Working on location at a wildflower farm in Mangrove Mountain, sketchbook drawings and observations, flowering had come to an end and new seasons plantings were beginning. This piece explores the concept of time passing and changes in the landscape as seasons shift. The blocky feel is reminiscent of time blocks in a calendar or timeline. Horizontal layers create the feeling of perspective and distance. Even in between the seasons there was still beauty to be found.

Landscapes in Abstract Series

Robyn’s work captures the unique Australian landscape through complex colours and expressive marks, distilling the essence of place and experience. Distractions of suburban life are exchanged for time to ponder the wonder of these natural environments, transforming into hymns of celebration, lifting the spirit and pointing heavenward.

Each piece evolves from small, on-location studies that capture the immediate beauty of the scenes to more developed studio works that explore the landscapes in greater depth.

About the Artist

Robyn’s works are inspired by her wonder of nature (both above and below the surface) and her inquisitive love of colour. Taking her view of a given landscape, re-interpreting and bringing a fresh perspective through her articulate use of colour, she allows the viewer to experience the beauty of creation around us.

Robyn Pedley is a full-time artist, co-director of Bobbie P Gallery and has completed a BFA majoring in painting and drawing at the University of Newcastle. She is an award winning artist, has held numerous solo and group exhibitions, and has works in both public and private collections both locally and internationally.
